Until when must a child ride in a car seat?

Current legal regulations require children under 150 cm to travel in car seats. The exception is the weight above 36kg - then it is quite difficult to fit in the seat. Currently, however, manufacturers from around the world are also trying to meet these types of challenges, which results in having car seats for children weighing more than 50 kg.

On August 11, 2017, amended regulations in this regard were introduced. They are designed to establish criteria for the safe transport of children based on their height, not weight. However, even despite some legislative restrictions, each case should be interpreted individually.

Most importantly, the age range was removed, because until the amendment, children who were 12 years old did not have to ride in child seats at all.

Some parents, especially older children, try to avoid the obligation to carry their children in car seats. This is not the best solution considering the fact that this type of equipment can even save the life of a passenger in a possible collision.

That is why, without saving on additional equipment, every driver should pay attention to adapting to the legal requirements for transporting children in cars.
